Take Action Against Violence and Abuse

Before my decision to create this section, my site included a list of volunteer efforts one could engage in for some grassroots work to raise awareness and to promote healing. Well, obviously the issue of violence and abuse can and should matter on a political level. Hence this section! I have chosen to place some web stickers here that allow you to contact your members of Congress, find out about the elections in your area, register to vote, and contact the media. I will also include info on political issues relating to our subject. Do make use of this section, or return to the main page.

Free Missourian Stacey Lannert

Stacey Lannert has been in a Missouri prison since 1990 for killing her CSA perp, her own father. The court conceeds that several indivduals, including Lannert's mother and a couple psychologists, realized the sexual abuse was occurring, but did nothing. They also conceed that not enough evidence was allowed into the trial about PTSD and how it may have shaped what she was experiencing in her mind that night. Her appeals have been exhausted, and she has been waiting for word about her petition for Executive Clemency since 1998.

For more information about the case and what you can do to help, visit Stacey's site. You can also sign this petition

Check out this petition calling for the Chris Cejas amendment to the manditory reporting law in California. Chris' grandmother Pat says, "hris was murdered in August of 2002 by his biological father and stepmother. In May of that year CPS was called but declined to come until 9 days later. When CPS did come they spoke to the apartment manager who told them there was no Chris in trouble in that building.. Chris' death was long, violent, and could not have been quiet. He was beaten tortured, he went without food for 4 days, this all took place in the apartment next door to the manager. Had the manager been a mandated reporter she would have been obligated to call, or at least send the worker to the apartment in which Chris was being abused all those months before his death."
